WPYF parents who chose to purchase their players helmet must follow these guidelines:
- The color must be white;
- A hard chin strap is required;
- Every helmet must have a full cage face mask with at least 3 horizontal bars and at least one continuous vertical bar in the center;
- The fit of the helmet must be checked by a WPYF board member (not a coach);
- Industry authorities suggest that the fit of the helmet is more important to player safety than the brand or style of the helmet and not all retail store personnel take the time or are familiar with proper fit. The WPYF also recommends confirming a proper fit before the player practices since retail outlets may not accept a return or exchange after being used. WPYF board members are available for helmet fitting during every equipment handout and just prior to the start of practice.
